The Acceptance Project

An important part of our service to our autistic clients is enhancing their individual sessions with our group - The Acceptance Project (TAP). This was established this two years ago in response to the demand from families, as there were few options in the area for their children to gain social skills in a supportive and accepting space.

This group is a hands-on, child and young person focussed, real life social experience. While many sources were researched in setting up the group - it is not a scripted program. It is a living, dynamic space that all group members have ownership of, and the aim of our group is to provide learning through acceptance first. This is an approach well-grounded in evidence and utilises the ACT concepts of being able to manage difficult thoughts and feelings while taking risks to do things connected to their values.
